CLIMATE CHANGE JARGON



BLUE CARBON: The carbondioxide of the air that dissolves in vast ocean system is called blue carbon.As the amount of carbondioxide increases in the air due to human activites of burning fossil fuels and excessive deforestation  accodingly the amount of co2  dissoved in sea water increases.This leads to so many changes in marine ecosystem mainly OCEAN ACIDIFICATION.

CARBON FOOTPRINT:The  amount of co2 released by energy consuming activities of a person,household or an industry.

OCEAN ACIDIFICATION: The increase in the acidity of the ocean waters  due to excessive dissolution of CO2 is called Ocean Acidification.this occurs as CO2 reactsH2O to form carbonic acid.One of the identified  fallout is increased corrosion of the coral reefs which are the hubs of biodiversity.

CHANGES IN UPSC MAIN EXAM

 UPSC has released its new notification for the 2013 exam.Many changes have been brought in the general studies papers.But these changes are merely are the expansion of general studies, an addition of extra paper on ethics and making english paper scoring.
 Eventhough the other changes may not be favourable  to aspirants of regional  languages medium, but a planned approach can help theaspirants to score good marks in the papers given

S&T areas in paper-IV (GS-3) are infact the regular areas  on which questions were regularly asked in previous main  in gs-2 paper.

Aspirants should follow the below guidelines for holistic preparation:
>Integrate areas of prelims and main
>Never start your preparation with material
>Follow NCERT BOOKS thouroughly
>Never miss devleopments in newspapers
>Follow magazines like YOJANA,KURUKSHETRA,ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL WEEKLY,SCIENCE REPORTER,DISCOVERY,ECONOMIC SURVEY,HINDU SURVEY AND DOWN TO EARTH
